In the center, the text in Hebrew consists of the Ten Commandments, written in traditional abbreviations (the initials of each commandment):
On the right: אנכי – “I (the Lord, your God)”, לא יהיה – “You shall have no other gods…”, לא תשא – “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain,” זכור – “Remember (the Sabbath day),” כבד – “Honor (your father and mother)”;
On the left: לא תרצח – “Thou shalt not kill,” לא תנאף – “Thou shalt not commit adultery,” לא תגנב – “Thou shalt not steal,” לא תענה – “Thou shalt not bear false witness,” לא תחמד – “Thou shalt not covet.”
