Printed edition of the fifth book of the Torah—Deuteronomy, which is part of the Pentateuch (Chumash). The text is presented in Hebrew with traditional Jewish commentaries intended for study and religious practice. Censorship permission dated April 23, 1885. This is the second edition, based on the Vilna edition of 1876.
The title page contains symbolic figures of Moses and Aaron, the Tablets of the Covenant with Roman numerals. Decorative biblical scenes at the bottom. One of the pages has an old triangular stamp with the inscription “Nikolaev” (Mykolaiv).
The book belongs to the classical canon of Jewish religious education, was widely used in cheders and yeshivas, and is an important testimony to the development of Jewish religious education and the book tradition of Eastern Europe, which was widespread in the territory of modern Ukraine.
