Mezuzah
A mezuzah (case for a mezuzah) is a scroll of parchment with excerpts from the Torah (Shma) that is rolled up and placed inside the case. It symbolizes God’s protection over the home and the Jews who live in it. According to tradition, the mezuzah is attached at an angle in the upper third of the right doorpost.
